ABOUT THE WISCONSIN CONCEALED CARRY ASSOCIATION

The Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association was formed in 2001. Prior to that, there were many gun rights groups lobbying for passage of Senator Dave Zien and Representative Scott Gunderson's Personal Protection Act shall-issue concealed carry bill. But there was no group that was focused solely on concealed carry.

The WCCA began with a small number of volunteers, but the number of volunteers quickly grew. Today we have hundreds of volunteers across the state who distribute literature at gun shows, gun clubs and gun stores, attend rallies, committee hearings and floor votes in the legislature, speak before public service groups, and perform other services.

As our numbers grew, and we became more effective, the WCCA became known amongst legislators in Madison. We've forged strong bonds with many pro-gun legislators, and have been invited by these legislators to offer our input on the various versions of the concealed carry bills.

In 2001, we also formed a political action committee, the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Movement (WCCM). Since that time, the WCCM has raised tens of thousands of dollars to help the campaigns of pro-gun, pro-concealed carry candidates.

Following the 2006 elections, and Governor Doyle's re-election, WCCA volunteers agreed that we needed to make changes to our group to make it even more effective.

So, in 2007, we incorporated under the name Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association, Inc. We also elected a board of directors in order to run the organization more efficiently. Currently, our board members are: Chuck Roamer, Chairman; Bill Schmitz, Vice-Chairman; Frank Tower, Secretary; Andrew Walkowiak, Treasurer; and Dick Baker, Founder.

As of this writing, we are in the process of filing for 501(c)4 tax-exempt status. This will enable us to raise more funds than we did in the past, in order to undertake more ambitious projects.

As long as Governor Doyle is in office, we face a tough uphill battle to get our concealed carry bill passed. But, rather than sit on our hands, we intend to increase public awareness about the issue, and do everything possible to increase our chances of success when the next bill is introduced. We invite you to help us in this fight.
